The Cultural Tuesday Session on January 6 2026 with a Lecture by Dr.Pourkhosh Saadat Deputy for International Affairs of the Basij Mostazafin Organization

The Cultural Tuesday Session Held on January 6, 2026 with a Lecture by Dr.Pourkhosh Saadat, Deputy for International Affairs of the Basij Mostazafin Organization. As part of the ongoing series of “Cultural Tuesday” sessions, a lecture was held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, organized by the Student–Cultural Affairs Deputy of the School of International Relations. The session featured Dr.Mohammad Pourkhosh Saadat, Deputy for International Affairs of the Basij Mostazafin Organization.

In his remarks, Dr. Pourkhosh Saadat stated that foreign policy requires strong domestic support. He emphasized that the field of international relations has transitioned from the era of “state-to-state” relations to the era of “network-to-network” relations. In such an environment, active engagement is essential, and within this process of network-based communications, the Basij can assist the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also highlighted the growing role of non-governmental organizations, noting that today, particularly in Western countries, such organizations have become effective instruments of governments’ foreign policies. He described foreign policy as inherently cumulative and gradual, emphasizing that short-term and temporary measures in this domain lack sustainability. According to him, alongside external engagement, reliance on domestic resources and capacities is an undeniable necessity. In this regard, Dr. Pourkhosh Saadat introduced the Basij as a multi-layered domestic network which, in addition to its revolutionary nature, serves as a powerful social infrastructure in Iran and can play a constructive role in narrative-building. He also referred to the Basij’s capacity to advance elite diplomacy, describing it as both achievable and impactful. In the final part of the session, which was attended by Dr. Dehshiri, Dean of the School of International Relations, School deputies, and a number of students, participants engaged in a question-and-answer session and exchanged views with the guest speaker.
