As part of the ongoing series of Cultural Tuesday sessions and organized by the Student–Cultural Affairs Deputy, this week’s session, held on January 13, 2026, featured Professor Dr. Jamshid Momtaz, a distinguished professor of international law, former Chair and member of the United Nations International Law Commission, and ad hoc judge of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the International Court of Justice. During this session, which
focused on examining developments in the rule prohibiting the use of force in light of recent international developments (Venezuela), Dr. Momtaz explained the principles of immunity of heads of state and government, the right of self-defense, jurisdictions and procedural processes of the International Criminal Court, and the rule prohibiting the use and threat of force. The distinguished speaker also reviewed the latest global developments in international law. In the concluding part of the session, which was attended by the respected Dean of the School of International Relations, deputies and faculty members of the School, senior experts from the Center for Political and International Studies, as well as students, the students expressed their appreciation for the efforts of Dr.Jamshid Momtaz as a distinguished professor of international law. The session concluded with a commemorative group photo. The School of International Relations wishes him longevity, prosperity, and good health from Almighty God.
